Leeds and Yorkshire Housing Association
Network Resource Group has always maintained its pioneering stance in the field of technology and advocates the many benefits of virtualisation for its clients.
In this current economic climate, virtualisation has increasingly become the choice for IT departments on a budget and adhering to environmental policies.
Leeds and Yorkshire Housing Association opted for Network Resource Group’s provision of virtualisation in order to optimise their small organisations server environment.
Leeds and Yorkshire Housing Association was formed in 1979 through the merger of 4 associations; The Leeds Tenant Housing Association, Yorkshire Cottage Housing Association, Aggrey Housing Association and Aire Valley Housing.
By bringing together the individual ideas of each association, Leeds and Yorkshire Housing Association now stands as a well rounded consortium at the heart of Leeds with activities spread throughout the Yorkshire County.
Reflecting the forward thinking, dynamic and progressive approach of the founding associations which include tackling homelessness, promoting diversity and developing affordable homes, Leeds and Yorkshire Housing Association prides itself on its performance. When approaching Network Resource Group, the Housing Association was looking for an IT partner to reflect this ethos across their IT infrastructure.
David Mackey, IT manager at L&YHA pinpoints the competitive pricing of Network Resource Group’s solutions as the factor that caught his eye.
“Network Resource Group were willing to match the price of our supplier at that time and even offered us a saving in the end.”
Having considered a number of plans to address the issue of their three overworked servers, David saw virtualisation as the appropriate way to go about it. Server replacement can be costly and a demanding process for any IT department. However, with virtualisation David says;
“It was easier to add one new virtual server, than add a new physical server. As a result, L&HA reduced their physical servers from four to two.”
Along with all the relevant reasons, David explains that it was the robustness that virtualisation offered, along with its disaster recovery element offering redundancy and flexibility, that made Leeds & Yorkshire Housing Association choose virtualisation.
“We are used to very little downtime, and it was something we wanted to continue even after adopting a virtualised environment.”
Since their virtualisation platform has been in place, David notes that their systems have been running smoothly.
“I’m happy because it allows me to forget about it now that it’s there. It is pain and stress free.”
From the seamless implementation, allowing the users to quickly get up and running without noticing a change in systems, to the environmental benefits of virtualisation, ensuring a lower power consumption rate, Leeds &Yorkshire Housing Association are confident that their IT system supports their business needs and objectives.
