Desktop virtualisation (also know as thin client computing or client-server computing) is encapsulating and delivering either access to an entire information system environment or the environment itself to a remote device. It allows organisations to deploy cost effective 'dumb' terminals that connect back to a central platform that runs the Windows operating system and associated applications.
